My name is Nathan Daniëls, third year student at the Design & Production course at NHTV Breda University of Applied Sciences. I have had a great love for stories, it is what interests me in games and it's something that in my opinion games still could do with a lot of improvement.
Being a narrative designer has always been a dream of mine. Not always in the shape of a narrative designer, many other options haven been on my mind, I've tried quite a few as well, but none did touch upon as many points as narrative design did. It is the ability to transform what is in my head into reality is something that I have always described as my dream job.

When playing a game, the thing that interests me most is how I'm getting pulled into the story and how they create an emotional connection between me and the characters in the game.
As a designer, I am always interested in the different ways games draw players into the story. How simple things that have to be part of the game, can be used to portray narrative. To portray a story without uttering a single word and still tell a more engaging story than some games do in an entire series. Emotionally touch the player on such a level that the player would have the same difficulty making the choice in the game as in real life. |
There are a wide variety of games I play, but games I would put on a list of my favorites are:

A game to me, must have a good story. When I finish a game, I want to be able to say that from a certain point in the story, maybe even from the beginning right until the end, the game had control over me and I had to keep playing because I had to know what would happen next.
